TOUR DESCRIPTION

A tour entirely dedicated to ancient Partenope – Napoli – capital of Campania province, rich in history, art and birthplace of people, traditions and inventions that have changed the world.

I will take you to the discover some of its great treasures, starting with the historic centre. Napoli is divided in half by “Spaccanapoli“: a street where you will breathe all the essence of the ancient city, a mix of folklore, traditions and history among little craft shops, large commercial enterprises and monuments.

We’ll visit the Monastery of Santa Chiara, the church and Cloister of the Clarisse, famous for the frescoed walls and the characteristic majolica tiles of the gardens. We’ll visit the Cappella di Sansevero, with the celebrates “Cristo Velato” (Veiled Christ) and mysterious anatomical devices. We’ll visit the Cathedral of San Gennaro and its museum, rich in artwork,

jewellery and masterpieces donated by the faithful.

Naples is home to mighty castles among which the Maschio Angioino, Castel dell’Ovo and Castel Sant’Elmo. Castel dell’Ovo is famous for a particular legend according to which the poet Virgil placed an egg into the foundation walls, the survival of the structure, as well as the whole of Napoli depends on its remaining intact.

Worth a visit is also the rich Museo di Capodimonte and Napoli Sotterranea, a tuffaceous path that was once a quarry, then aqueduct and during the 2nd World War a refuge for the population. It contains many objects object from daily life at that time.

We’ll  sit in one of the many famous pizzerias and discover the true flavour of this old creation or enjoy a plate of spaghetti “cà pummarol” – with tomato – a recurring theme in the great actor Totò.
